Bulletproof Weeks- Week 2 Goff

Since I was so long winded last week I thought I'd give a cleaner more stream-lined account. This week can be broken into three categories. .

Meetings:

- Dr. Cunningham presented his research (had already seen)

- Dr. Maher presented her research (had not seen before)

- Implantable replacements for meniscus, acl, articular caritlage

- Criticized by tissue engineers but I liked it

Surgeries (smelled like burnt hair):

- Cyst removal from L3-L4 disc space

- Short surgery 2-3 hrs

- Hard to see due to small incision and no cameras

- Double surgeon procedure

- Triple A-cage implantation

- Two long surgeries (~6 hrs each) over two days

- Implanted cages through stomach

- Implanted screws and supports through back

- Took a long time to wake up (anesthesiologist gave forehead flicks while saying wake up *NAME REMOVED)

Research:

- Finished image processing portion

- Implemented image processing and other code in matlab

- Looking into other avenues of research to follow

Well that is it for this week. See you on the flip side.
